Boston Boxed Bread
Creative directing in terms of branding - how do we give the fictional Boston Boxed Bread company a memorable identity? I used the design thinking process to come up with not only the logo, but also the packaging and materials that communicate the BBB identity.
Target Audience: Specialty bread buyers in the Boston area.
Role in Projects: I was given the name of the company and tasked with creating a brand identity for it. The Description of the company included words such as "organic," "modern," and "fresh." Using these keywords I came up with a logo that puts a rough organic twist on a clean, modern brand. I also show imagery that this brand would be associated with, such as the modern store sign, bread box packaging, and branding materials.
Skills: Branding conception, description interpretation, ability to follow guidelines
Process: After reading the short description of this start-up company, my first step in the design process was to create a concept board. After doing this I began sketching logo ideas. My concept board helped in my initial brainstorming of logo designs, as you can see my visual documentation below. After narrowing down my thumbnails to about 3 logo concepts, I eventually decided on the cleanest version that I thought best communicated the brand. I then chose basic imagery that paired well this identity and created visuals of what the store front of BBB would look like, what the bread box packaging would look like, and what their identity materials would look like.

Duration: The entire process took roughly a full work day to complete (8 hours)
Challenges & Successes: My main challenge with this project was deciding which aesthetic I wanted to go through with. As you can see in my concept board and sketches, I love a natural, rustic vibe for a company such as this. However, because the company wanted to be known as fresh and modern, I am happy with how I was able to create a successful logo that is both organic and modern at the same time.
