A photo of the me and the marketing team on our visit to a job site
Target Audience: Internal employees and company stakeholders
Role in Projects: Graphic design for print and screen, independent and collaborative work. I designed marketing materials such as brochures, posters, invitations, event signage, newsletters, infographics and more. I assisted with photography during marketing photoshoots, created social media content and supported the marketing team with preparation for events both internal and external.
Skills: Photography and Photoshop editing, ability to follow brand guidelines, strong layout and typographic design
Process: My supervisors created the project guidelines with specific criteria for me to incorporate. During the process, I would receive feedback about my designs and adjust them as needed. I worked in the PROCON office, so I would meet with the marketing team every day.

Project 1: Infographics
I designed the first infographic below to be included in a pamphlet for an application for a construction award. The purpose is to explain the contaminated soil remediation process and the challenges faces in that process on this specific job in Chelsea, MA. The second infographic was designed to be handed out to high school students in Manchester, NH, explaining the options available when going into a construction career. The third infographic was designed to explain the encapsulating "Design-Build" process that PROCON delivers to its clients.
Duration: The first two infographics took approximately 5 hours each to complete, while the third infographic took closer to 15 hours.
Challenges & Successes: The main challenge for the first two infographics was using the site Piktochart to lay out the information. PROCON has a subscription with this site and in the time crunch of needing these pieces it made the most sense to use a template. I was challenged in trying to fit all of the information I was given into the templates, but believe that I learned a lot through information refining process. My success with these infographics was my choice of icons to use for visual explanation, as well as color scheme.
Skills Learned: Picking appropriate graphics and color schemes for visuals

Challenges & Successes: The main challenge was coming up with the steps of the "Design-Build" process. There was a lot of contemplation about verbiage and how to best explain the process. My success with this infographic was the shape and design. My supervisor pulled lots of inspiration for the visual, and I was quite successful in combining the inspiration with the necessary information to create an effective infographic. I worked with PROCON Creative Writer Carol Duhart, as well as the rest of the marketing team to come up with the correct verbiage and imagery to best communicate this single Design-Build solution this company practices.
Project 2: Event Invitation
I designed this invitation for a company wide event that was sent to all employees. I used PROCON's Vecteezy membership to choose graphics that went along with the farm theme, and laid out all of the information around the graphics.
Duration: The invitation took approximately 10 hours to design and copy-write, and about 5 hours to print, cut and prepare roughly 200 invitations.
Challenges & Successes: The main challenge for this project was fitting all of the information in such a small space. I worked with my supervisor to really cut down the text to its simplest, most necessary form so that the layout was as clean as possible. My biggest success with this project was the front of the invitation with the layout of the farm graphic and overlapping text. I enjoyed curating fun graphics to incorporate into the invitation.

Project 3: Advertisement
I collaborated with PROCON's recruiting department in order to come up with an ad for open positions within the company. I used Piktochart to come up with the initial layout, and inserted the square part of the PROCON logo to customize the ad to brand guidelines. I was involved in the copywriting of the ad and was given complete creative freedom in designing it through the help of Piktochart.
Duration: The process of copywriting and designing this ad took approximately 4 hours.
Challenges & Successes: This was the first project I had really been involved in the copywriting side of marketing, which did challenge me. I enjoyed the challenge, however, and once the message was solidified, designing the visual became more fun. I think that the process of creating the typographic message made my design process more complete and involved than if I'd just been given the verbiage from the beginning. Seeing the printed ad hung up in the PROCON office and the digital ad emailed to all the employees felt like a huge success.

Project 4: Event Signage
An event was being held in order to announce a new project PROCON had just gotten. I chose the architecture department's rendering of the finished hotel to be used as the main focus for the signage. I then added text to the rendering to create posters and table tents that advertised this new project. Both InDesign and Photoshop were used to create this signage.
Duration: The posters and table tents took approximately 5 hours to create and print.
Challenges & Successes: I struggled in beginning this project because PROCON used templates for their previous project announcement marketing collateral, but this project rendering didn't necessarily go with the template. I had to adjust the text and layout of the template in order to ensure effective readability. I did have success in adjusting the layout a bit, and received good feedback about the advertising materials for this new project announcement.

Project 5: Photo Editing:
PROCON's marketing manager and I assisted photographer Joe St. Pierre during these shoots. The photos were then photoshopped by me for marketing purposes. The before picture is on the top while the finished picture is on the bottom. Click on the images to enlarge them.
Duration: Depending on the needs of each photo, editing typically took about 30 minutes.
Challenges & Successes: In editing these photographs I was really challenged by the business and details of the composition. Removing cracks in pavement was much easier than removing a sign in front of a detailed piece of architecture. I learned through this process that patience is key, and that you can almost never be too zoomed in on a picture when using the spot healing tool in Photoshop. I feel extremely confident in editing marketing photos after this internship.

Project 6: Photography
I took these photos during a job site visit to the Assembly Row Hotel near downtown Boston. PROCON's marketing manager used them for social media posts.
